Starting December 1, tourists from China and India can visit Malaysia without needing a visa. This news comes from Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim. The goal is to bring more tourists to Malaysia to help the economy. Chinese and Indian visitors can now stay in Malaysia for 30 days without a visa. They will still have to go through security checks when they arrive.
Right now, Indian tourists can get a visa when they reach Malaysia, but only if they come from Thailand, Indonesia, or Singapore, have visas for these countries, and have tickets to go back to India. Malaysia has different types of visas for Indian travelers, like the eNTRI Visa, E-Visa, and Transit Pass.
This visa change is part of Malaysia’s bigger plan to make it easier for tourists and business people from India and China to visit. China is also making it easier for people to visit. They’re letting travelers from six countries, including Malaysia, come without a visa for around 15 days.
Thailand and Sri Lanka are also doing similar things. Thailand is letting Indian and Taiwanese tourists visit their place for 30 days without a visa, from November 10, 2023, to May 10, 2024. Sri Lanka is giving visa-free entry to people from India and six other countries.
According to the Henley Passport Index 2023, Indian passport holders can go to 57 countries without a visa. This list now includes Sri Lanka and Thailand. Other countries where Indians can go without a visa or get one when they arrive include Bhutan, Hong Kong, Barbados, Fiji, and more. This is good news for Indian travelers who want to explore these countries.
