In Guwahati, Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is now focusing on the 2024 elections. He is urging workers from BJP, AGP, and Gana Shakti to join forces to win the election and help Narendra Modi become Prime Minister again.
The Chief Minister spent two days in Majuli. He looked at the progress of two important bridges being built there: the Majuli-Jorhat Bridge and the Selek-Dhonaguri Bridge. He also attended a rally with members of the BJP, AGP, and Gana Shakti parties. He encouraged everyone to work together to win many seats in Assam for the Lok Sabha elections. He mentioned the importance of teamwork, especially because now Majuli is a part of the Jorhat Parliamentary Constituency
Talking about the bridges, he said the Majuli-Jorhat bridge is about 20% complete. The goal is to finish 35% of the bridge before the flooding season. They hope to open this bridge by April 2026. The Selek-Dhonaguri bridge is expected to be completed by December 2025. There’s also a plan to build roads connected to these bridges, which might cost around Rs 400 crore.
He hopes to start on these roads next year so they can be finished at the same time as the bridges. The Majuli-Jorhat bridge project, which costs Rs 650 crore, began on November 29, 2021. In the evening, the Chief Minister enjoyed watching Raax Kriras, which are traditional performances, in Majuli.
