The Supreme Court on Tuesday announced the ban on firecrackers all over the states in India. The court made it clear that the rules about firecrackers are the same all over India and not only in the areas of Delhi-NCR.
This initiative is taken as the chemicals emitted from the firecrackers are not safe for the nature and are too loud creating pollution. This is not just for Delhi-NCR but for every place in the country. In addition, the court also laid out the order that Rajasthan must also follow this rule. This is to ensure that the air and noise pollution is less, during the occasion of Diwali and also at other times.
The lawyer for this particular case also explained that some people think this rule is only for Delhi-NCR. But the rule is actually for the whole country. The court had already laid out the rule in 2018, allowing only safe ‘green crackers’ can be made and sold during Diwali. Green crackers are allowed as per the rule issued by the Supreme Court in the year 2018. Firecrackers that make a lot of noise or have harmful chemicals like barium are not allowed across India. You cannot buy crackers online either. They can only be bought from shops that have a license. The court also informed when these crackers can be used.
Again, on October 29, 2021, the Supreme Court issued a order covering the same topic of banning harmful firecrackers across India and allowing only the use of environmental friendly ‘green crackers’. The bench had also directed the Union and State Territories too see if the orders are strictly complied with across the country. They also said that not all firecrackers are banned. Only the ones that are not good for health and contain barium-based chemicals are not allowed.
